Save the Wirtheim Mill - Special Edition Poster German Language

Rettet Die Wirtheimer Mühle means Save the Wirtheim Mill. There’s a very old, very small town outside Frankfurt, Germany for whom I share a name—Wirtheim. Last year, a German fan of the VGoT, and whose hometown is Wirtheim, reached out to me about his interest in the town’s historic water-powered grist mill dating back to 1687. Currently the mill is in sad shape, so he and some other townspeople had the idea of saving the unique double water mill before it collapses—restoring it as an historic attraction. And so to get the word out, they would need a poster—that’s where I come in.

I’m not certain I have ancestors from Wirtheim, Germany, but probably—and that is really interesting to me. It was very special to be invited to do something for this little town, especially help it connect to its agricultural past. This a wheat-growing region of fields, hence the grist mill, as well as home to apple orchards in the hills. The town itself appears as nothing more than a small stop along a highway.

In this poster, I wanted to bring alive the beauty and magic of this old water mill and the historic town and land it is situated within.

The Save the Mill campaign is ongoing and I’ll post any updates here.
