Let's "Keep 'Em Flying!" New Screenprint Poster

A fresh screen-printed edition of the popular “Keep ‘Em Flying” hen poster is now available. That tongue-in-cheek slogan and the tall hen were part of the original set of posters I made for the Victory Garden of Tomorrow in 2007-2008. This is a Third Edition of 250 posters, where each of the 4 colors are hand mixed, and each color applied one at a time, layering over each other. The effect is a poster with colors that are brighter and longer lasting than an ordinary conventional print.

I’m so proud of this poster and its seeming timelessness—it has often been mistaken as an original war-era print, but no! It is a relevant message for us here in the 21st century. Keeping a few laying hens is not only great for having fresh eggs around, but they are a fascinating education for children—responsibility, chores and a chance to be closer to that which we consume. Let’s keep ‘em flying!
